The California Lottery Poweball jackpot is now at $1.3 billion.
Yes, billion. That's a ridiculous amount to win, for anybody. Unless, of course, I win, then it's not ridiculous :)
Nobody needs to win more than, let's say, $100 million. The California Lottery should pick a mandatory winning ticket, with a jackpot cash payout of $100 million, whenever the jackpot gets to $500 million. Then, start all over again.
The FIRST thing you should do if.when you win a huge amount in a lottery drawing, is not to start buying houses for everybody, but to see a tax attorney. And an accountant.
UPDATE:
Like 5 days later, as no one had won the jackpot all week, on Saturday, September 6, 2025 the Powerball jackpot was $1.8 BILLION. The cash value was $826 million.
