We are getting ripped off. By the Powerball Lottery. What do I mean?
The Powerball lottery is played in 45 states. The Powerball jackpot is now $975 million. Nearly a billion dollars. That's paid over 30 years. But taking the lump-sum cash payout option if you win the $975 million is only $422 million. Less than half. It should be at least $500 million. Oh, wait a minute. I would love to win and take the $422 million. Or win $100 million cash. Or $10 million. That's why I play the $2-a-ticket Powerball. For me, it's a hope, a potential dream, a potential miracle. I don't care what the odds are, somebosy eventually always wins. Why not me?
